Sustained Release Paint Additives
We manufacture submicron silica particles which can provide specific functionalities to classic coating formulations. Active materials, such as corrosion inhibitors, biocides, fungicides, etc…, can be incorporated inside the ‘Smart Particles’, which can then simply be mixed into a paint or coating formulation. The particles are mechanically tough, can survive most industrial processes (e.g. mixing, grinding, extrusion) and do not adversely affect the mechanical properties of the coating.
Co-formulation of Incompatible Drugs
We have been working with a global Animal Health company to help them stabilise formulations containing two incompatible drugs. We were successful in both stabilising and compatibilising (co-formulating) the drugs.
Animal trials also demonstrated our ability to extend the release period (Tmax) while preserving the total amount of drug delivered (Max & area under the curve).
High Efficiency Dermal Patches
We are developing a novel transdermal patch technology which is based on biodegradable nano fibrous mats made by electrospinning. The patches are designed to allow: 1) minimal drug loading to achieve therapeutic efficacy and 2) longer application by minimising skin irritation, thereby addressing the issue of waste and safety without compromising efficacy.
A wide range of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) can be incorporated into our patches. We are currently focusing on the manufacturing of OTC (over the counter) pain relief patches. This novel technology drastically minimises the quantity of analgesics used (up to 30 times less) in the patch and importantly, also provides for an easy disposal of used patches (as there is no drug residue).
