The combination of the micro-sponge structure with the intrinsic toughness of silica makes our micro-particles mechanically strong and able to survive a wide range of industrial processing steps such as extrusion, tableting, milling, spraying etc…

Moreover, silica hybrid matrices provide exceptional chemical and thermal resistance and hence, can increase further the protection of the payload.

Biodegradable

Counter-intuitively, amorphous silica does dissolve in aqueous environment. The high surface area of our particles further enhances their biodegradability in the body and reduces the probability of accumulation in targeted organs. This combined with a very low systemic toxicity (>200mg/kg) makes EncapSolutions technology an ideal candidate for drug delivery.

Green

Although amorphous silica is a well-known environmentally friendly material, EncapSolutions Technology enables progression towards a truly sustainable future. Our controlled release approach allow us to provide a sufficient and efficacious amount without waste. This significantly reduces (up to 30 x less) the quantity of active chemicals used to reach a given performance.

Tailored

Owing to the great flexibility offered by sol-gel chemistry, we can tailor our average particle size from 0.02-200 microns. The release rate can be controlled independently from hours to months. This enables EncapSolutions to provide flexible tailored solutions for our customers.

Versatile

Over the last 20 years, we have developed a number of processes to encapsulate a wide range of compounds from small hydrophilic molecules such as sweeteners or vitamins or drugs, to lipophilic liquids such as fragrances, flavours and oils to much larger molecules such as oligonucleotides (RNA, DNA) and industrial enzymes (proteases) and even macroscopic objects such as metallic pigments. There is nothing more stimulating for the technical team than the challenge to encapsulate a new molecule!

Scalable

We use emulsion polymerisation processes which are well known for their easy scalability. During the last 10 years, we have demonstrated the feasibility of the industrial production of our products by building and operating a manufacturing plant for micro-encapsulated corrosion inhibitors with a 50 Metric ton yearly capacity.
